Ergonomic Consultant in San Francisco & San Mateo County

ErgonomicWorks provides ergonomic evaluations in San Francisco and San Mateo County, led virtually for Northern California employers. All evaluations are led by Azi Imandel, MS, CEA, SPHR, CLMS, CPDM — President and Principal Ergonomic Consultant. A virtual ergonomic evaluation is a live, consultant-led assessment of an employee's workstation, measured against ANSI/HFES 100 and Cal/OSHA Title 8 §5110. The virtual evaluation is $350, the session runs 45 to 60 minutes, and the written report is delivered in 3 to 5 business days.

§1

How Does a Virtual Ergonomic Evaluation Work for Bay Area Employers?

The evaluation is conducted live by video — not a self-assessment checklist or an app score.
• Intake: the employer or employee submits the intake form, including the workstation photos requested in the form's photo guide (native file attachment).
• Live session (45–60 minutes): the consultant observes the employee working at their actual workstation, takes objective anthropometric measurements, and adjusts the existing setup during the session — chair, monitor height, surface clearances.
• Written report (3 to 5 business days): measured findings, before-and-after values, and corrective actions the employer can document and defend.
• Follow-up: Virtual Ergonomic Follow-Up evaluations are available at $150 when a workstation changes or a case needs re-checking. In-person evaluations are also provided across California, including Northern California, for cases whose complexity requires an on-site visit (see §5).

§2

Which San Francisco and San Mateo County Organizations Does ErgonomicWorks Serve?

The page is written for the buyers who carry ergonomic risk:
• HR and EHS leaders managing hybrid and remote workforces
• Public agencies and school districts with California compliance obligations
• Workers' Compensation managers and claim adjusters who need objective documentation
• Risk managers preparing for Cal/OSHA §5110 or FEHA interactive-process matters.
ErgonomicWorks already serves Northern California public-sector clients, including the San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) and the County of San Mateo. Across public agencies and private corporate enterprises, ErgonomicWorks has conducted thousands of on-site and virtual evaluations over 25+ years.

§3

What Does the Evaluation Measure?

Every evaluation is measured against the six ANSI/HFES 100 workstation benchmarks — objective values, recorded in the report:
• Popliteal clearance: 2 to 3 inches
• Elbow flexion: 90 to 105 degrees
• Wrist posture (radiocarpal extension): below 15 degrees
• Visual focal distance and display height: 20 to 30 inches
• Ulnar/radial deviation: 0 degrees
• Line-of-sight declination: 0 to 15 degrees.
The methodology is ANSI/HFES 100, Cal/OSHA Title 8 §5110, and objective anthropometric measurement. Findings are documented as measurable before-and-after values — the same objective record whether the case is routine, contested, or heading to the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board.

§4

Cal/OSHA §5110 and FEHA/ADA Matters in the Bay Area

Two statutory tracks drive most Northern California engagements:
• Cal/OSHA Title 8 §5110: when repetitive-motion injuries trigger the standard, the employer must run a worksite evaluation by a qualified evaluator. ErgonomicWorks' §5110 evaluations produce the documented, measurement-based record the standard requires.
• FEHA / ADA interactive process: workstation accommodations evaluated and documented as part of the employer's interactive-process obligations, including the duty framed by California Government Code Section 12940(n). Pregnancy ergonomic needs are addressed as part of the evaluation process.

§5

What If a Case Needs an In-Person or Forensic Evaluation?

Virtual is the first route for Northern California — not the only one.
• In-person evaluations are provided across California, including San Francisco and San Mateo County, when the workstation, the claim, or the litigation posture requires an on-site assessment.
• Complex cases & forensic job analyses ($665, inquiry-only) run 60 to 90 minutes and produce litigation-grade documentation for contested claims, subrogation, and expert-witness matters.

§6

Why Do Northern California Employers Choose a Vendor-Neutral Consultant?

ErgonomicWorks sells no furniture, no equipment, and accepts no vendor commissions — 100% vendor-neutral. The evaluation reconfigures what the employee already has first; any purchase recommendation is driven by the measurements, not by a product line. For HR, adjusters, and counsel, that independence is what makes the report defensible: the findings cannot be discounted as a sales document.

§7

What Does an Ergonomic Evaluation Cost in Northern California?

• Virtual Ergonomic Evaluation: $350 — flat fee, full payment upon booking.
• Virtual Ergonomic Follow-Up: $150.
• Complex Cases & Forensic Audits: $665 — inquiry-only; scoped before booking.
• On-site Ergonomic Evaluation in San Francisco, San Mateo, and Silicon Valley enterprise campuses: $450 — flat fee.
